Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirements
All property agents and certificate holders in NSW must complete annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) between 1 July and 30 June in accordance with NSW Fair Trading requirements.
The CPD program includes compulsory topics relevant to the class of licence held and is designed to ensure ongoing professional competence and compliance with the Property and Stock Agents Act 2002.
Details of CPD requirements are available on the NSW Fair Trading website.
Industry Training Consultants is an approved provider authorised to deliver compulsory CPD training to support licence holders in meeting their regulatory obligations.
CPD Training – Licence Holders
All individuals who hold a Class 1 property agent licence, Class 2 property agent licence, or a certificate of registration must complete CPD requirements each year in accordance with their licence category.
Failure to comply with CPD requirements may result in suspension or cancellation of a licence or certificate.
The CPD year for all licence and certificate holders runs from 1 July to 30 June each year.
CPD obligations vary depending on the class and type of licence held.
Class 1 Agents – Real Estate, Strata, or Dual Licence Holders
A Class 1 Agent in real estate or strata management must complete the required compulsory CPD hours each year in a face-to-face or interactive format approved by NSW Fair Trading.
Where a licence holder holds multiple Class 1 categories (for example real estate and strata, or real estate and stock and station), CPD topics may be cross-counted where the content is applicable to both licence categories.
For example, where a compulsory topic applies to both strata and real estate obligations (such as supervisory responsibilities), completion of the topic will satisfy the requirement for both categories.
Class 1 Agents – Stock and Station
A Class 1 Agent in stock and station must complete the required compulsory CPD training each year through face-to-face or interactive delivery as approved under NSW Fair Trading requirements.
Class 2 Agents – Real Estate, Strata, or Dual Licence Holders
A Class 2 Agent in real estate or strata management must complete the required compulsory CPD hours each year in a face-to-face or interactive format.
Where a Class 2 licence holder holds multiple categories (for example real estate and strata, or real estate and stock and station), CPD completion may count across categories where the topic is relevant to both areas of practice.
For example, where a compulsory topic applies across multiple licence categories, completion of that topic may be counted once and recognised for all applicable categories.
Class 2 Agents – Stock and Station
A Class 2 Agent in stock and station must complete the required compulsory CPD training each year through face-to-face or interactive delivery as approved under NSW Fair Trading requirements.

Other Important Information
Licence or certificate holders who:
- have been issued a new licence or certificate of registration, or
- have restored or reactivated a licence or certificate that has expired within the CPD period
may be exempt from CPD requirements where the commencement date falls within the applicable exemption period under NSW Fair Trading guidelines.
This exemption is applied automatically and does not require an application.
Note: This exemption does not apply where a licence or certificate has been reinstated following suspension or cancellation with conditions requiring completion of CPD.
Where a certificate of registration or licence is issued within the final months of the CPD period, partial CPD requirements may still apply in accordance with NSW Fair Trading rules.
