Industry Training Consultants is firmly committed to protecting your privacy.
We maintain a safe and secure system for handling your personal information while ensuring you can access your information when required.
Although Industry Training Consultants has an annual turnover of less than $3 million, as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that collects personal and sensitive information for training, assessment and reporting purposes, we are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Collection of Personal Information
We only collect personal information necessary for us to deliver our training and compliance services.
The type of information we collect depends on the nature of your dealings with us and may include:
- your name, contact details and date of birth
- identification details (e.g. driver’s licence or passport)
- educational background, employment and qualifications
- information required for course enrolment, assessment and certification.
Whenever reasonable and practicable, we collect information directly from you. Occasionally, we may receive information from third parties (e.g. employers, government agencies or other RTOs), and will notify you if this occurs.
We generally do not collect sensitive information (e.g. health, religious, or criminal history) unless required or authorised by law.
2. National VET Data and USI Collection
As an RTO, we are required by law to collect, hold and disclose certain personal information to:
- The National VET Data Collection; and
- The Unique Student Identifier (USI) Registry System.
This includes information such as date of birth, gender and training outcomes.
This information is used solely for national reporting, auditing and statistical purposes as required under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011.
3. Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
We use your personal information only for the purpose for which it was collected, including:
- processing enrolments and delivering training and assessment
- issuing qualifications and statements of attainment
- meeting our reporting obligations to regulatory and funding bodies
- communicating with you about courses or services that may be of interest.
We may contact you with information about new products, training programs or compliance updates.
You may opt out of these communications at any time by contacting our head office.
We will not sell or rent your personal information to other organisations.
Any disclosure to third parties will be limited to what is required by law, such as to government agencies, auditors or regulators.
4. Data Quality, Retention and Security
We take all reasonable steps to:

ensure the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up to date

protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure

secure both physical and electronic records through password protection, encryption and restricted access.
In compliance with the Standards for RTOs 2015 and current ASQA requirements:

Completed student assessment items (e.g., assessments submitted by students to demonstrate competency) are retained for a minimum period of two (2) years after the student has completed their training, unless a longer retention period is required under a funding contract, regulatory/licensing requirement, or other legal obligation.

Records of student outcomes and AQF certification documentation (qualifications, statements of attainment, results) are retained for a minimum of 30 years, or longer if required.
After the applicable retention period, and when no further regulatory, audit, or legal obligation exists, personal information will be securely destroyed or permanently de-identified in accordance with our secure disposal procedures.
5. Cookies and Website Information
A cookie is a small data file stored on your computer when you visit our website.
Cookies are used for functionality, security and basic analytics. They do not personally identify you.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting your access to our website.
Industry Training Consultants does not use cookies to track personal browsing behaviour.

6. Cross-Border Disclosure
We do not disclose personal information outside Australia.
All training, student management and identity verification systems are operated and stored within Australian borders.
7. Automated Decision-Making
We use limited automated processes to support the administration of training and assessments, such as:
- checking eligibility for enrolment
- evaluating course completion based on attendance and results
- recommending learning modules based on performance
- generating compliance and reporting data.
These processes are administrative in nature and are not used to make, or substantially contribute to, decisions that substantially contribute to, decisions that significantly affect individuals without appropriate human review and oversight.
All decisions that may materially impact an individual's rights or interests are subject to human assessment and verification.
You have the right to:
- request information about how automated processes are used
- seek human review of any decision that affects you
- challenge a decision or provide additional information for reconsideration.

8. Access to and Correction of Personal Information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you or ask for corrections if the information is inaccurate or out of date.
To do so, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below.
We will respond to all requests within a reasonable time.
9. Making a Privacy Complaint
If you have a concern or complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer in the first instance.
We will investigate your complaint and respond within 30 days.
